Sir Elton John brought his final UK show to a close at Glastonbury on Sunday night, thanking fans for their “love and support” and stating that they will be in his “heart and soul forever”. The superstar’s two-hour set on the Pyramid stage included crowd-pleasing hits such as “Your Song”, “Tiny Dancer”, “Rocketman”, and “Benny And The Jets”.

Elton John, who is set to retire from touring at the end of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, surprised fans with unexpected musical guests, including Jacob Lusk of Gabriels, Stephen Sanchez, Brandon Flowers of The Killers, and Japanese-British singer Rina Sawayama. The singer paid tribute to late star George Michael as he launched into “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” and closed the show with “Rocketman”, the song that lent its name to his biopic.

Elton John told festivalgoers that the night was special and emotional for him, as it might be his last show ever in England. He thanked fans for their enthusiasm and expressed his gratitude towards the crowd and those watching at home. The singer’s farewell set was billed as his final UK show, and he treated fans to a nostalgic performance that seemed to be a celebration of his career.

The clean-up operation was under way on Monday, with festival organisers urging campers to leave no trace. The tweet from the official Glastonbury Festival account reminded music fans to take all their belongings with them and to dispose of rubbish properly. Drivers were advised to leave the site before 7am to avoid queues and to have food, drink, and supplies in their car in case of long waits.

Avon and Somerset Police recorded 120 incidents during the festival, including 27 thefts, 20 drug offences, and seven sexual assaults. A total of 35 arrests were made, with the figures including incidents and arrests both on and off site. The Met Office reported that the closest weather station to Glastonbury, Yeovilton, saw temperature highs of 26.1C on both Saturday and Sunday. However, festivalgoers making their way home on Monday could expect a few “sporadic” light showers that would be “quite hit and miss”.
