Former WWE star AJ Francis, formerly known as Top Dolla, hasn’t slowed down since his release from WWE last year. Instead, he’s been actively pursuing opportunities in other wrestling promotions, including MLW and TNA Wrestling, where he recently secured the TNA Digital Media Championship.

Speaking on “Busted Open Radio,” Francis revealed that he’s been inspired by the paths of two notable WWE releases: Matt Cardona and Drew McIntyre.

Drawing inspiration from Cardona’s journey, Francis has embraced a similar approach, maintaining a strong presence in the independent wrestling scene.

Meanwhile, he’s also looked up to Drew McIntyre, who, despite being released from WWE in 2014, returned with remarkable success, ultimately becoming a world champion. Francis shared that he’s remained in contact with McIntyre, who has been supportive and impressed by his work ethic.

Reflecting on McIntyre’s advice, Francis emphasized the importance of self-belief and perseverance. Despite having access to blueprints and guidance from former WWE colleagues, he acknowledges the need to carve out his own path in the industry. This sentiment underscores his determination to navigate his career independently and make his mark in the wrestling world.

Having experienced both release and re-entry into WWE before being released again in 2023, Francis is now fully immersed in his journey across various wrestling platforms, including TNA, MLW, NWA, and other independent circuits. Despite the setbacks, he remains resilient and driven, determined to forge ahead and establish himself on his terms.
