The second part of the docuseries “Who Killed WCW?” will air on June 11 on VICE TV. This series explores why World Championship Wrestling, once a leading wrestling company, fell apart.

The first episode featured honest opinions from wrestling stars like Bret “The Hitman” Hart, who didn’t hold back about the company’s problems. Ric Flair, a major figure in WCW’s history, also shared his views on social media about what went wrong.

Ric Flair, known as “The Nature Boy,” took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share his perspective on the downfall of WCW. He attributed the failure to what he called a “three-headed monster” comprising Jim Herd, Eric Bischoff, and Vince Russo.

Flair argued that these key figures, through their mismanagement, created a toxic environment filled with dysfunction and animosity. He emphasized that the downfall was not due to any individual wrestler or faction but rather the destructive actions and decisions made by those in charge.

Flair recounted his personal grievances with these individuals, starting with Jim Herd, who notoriously fired him from WCW in 1991. Herd’s proposal to rebrand Flair as “Spartacus” and slash his pay was met with rejection, prompting Flair’s departure to WWE.

The tension continued with Eric Bischoff, with whom Flair had a notorious backstage feud. Additionally, Flair expressed disdain for Vince Russo’s booking decisions, which he found so egregious that he was relieved when WCW eventually folded in 2001.

Despite the turbulent times in WCW, Flair expressed gratitude towards WWE for revitalizing his career after his WCW experiences.

He highlighted how WWE rescued him from the aftermath of the dysfunction caused by Herd, Bischoff, and Russo. This part of the docuseries promises to provide a deeper exploration of these issues, shedding light on the intricate and often tumultuous history of WCW’s fall from grace.
