Tommaso Ciampa attempted to surprise Randy Orton with an RKO before a recent “WWE SmackDown” event in Glasgow, Scotland, but his plan went awry when Orton evaded the maneuver, leaving Ciampa flat on his back outside the ring.

Johnny Gargano shared a humorous video on social media showing Ciampa plotting the ambush due to Orton’s “stupid music” and “stupid tattoos,” a reference to a past incident involving Orton and Kofi Kingston.

Later that night, Ciampa and Gargano, known as “DIY,” appeared on “WWE SmackDown,” where they were involved in a confrontation with “A-Town Down Under” (Austin Theory and Grayson Waller) over a potential tag-team championship opportunity. This led to a chaotic brawl in the ring after their challenge was rejected.

Despite their popularity and success in NXT, where they were former tag-team champions, Ciampa and Gargano have yet to achieve championship success on the main roster. Their last title reign together was in 2016 when they defeated “The Revival” in a Best Two Out of Three Falls match for the NXT Tag-Team Championship.

The incident with Orton and their subsequent appearance on “SmackDown” highlights DIY’s ongoing quest for main roster gold and their willingness to stir up controversy to achieve it. The video posted by Gargano also underlined their playful rivalry with Orton, adding an element of humor to their interactions with WWE’s established stars.
