Gopikrishna, who was originally from the Bapatla district in Andhra Pradesh, had only been in the US for eight months. The robbery occurred on June 21 at a gas station convenience store in Pleasant Grove, Dallas.
Consul General D C Manjunath, who was in Dallas for a Yoga Day event, confirmed that the incident was unrelated to a previously reported shooting in Arkansas. Expressing condolences, Mr. Manjunath stated that they were in contact with Gopikrishna’s local family members and deeply saddened by his untimely death.

The incident has had a profound impact on the Indian community in Dallas and its surrounding areas. Gopikrishna is survived by his wife and son, who are now left to mourn his loss.
