Abortion Rights Take Center Stage as Biden and Trump Spar in First 2024 Debate

This decision reinstated a federal judge’s ruling that EMTALA overrides Idaho’s near-total abortion ban when the two laws conflict.

This ruling was part of ongoing legal battles surrounding state-level abortion bans, with Idaho being one of six states with stringent abortion restrictions that do not protect the health of pregnant women.
