Air India is set to introduce its Premium Economy class on the A350 aircraft for the first time on the Delhi-New York JFK and Delhi-Newark routes, featuring 24 wide seats in a 2-4-2 configuration. This dedicated cabin offers extra legroom and aims to enhance passenger comfort.

The decision to launch this new class comes after positive feedback from domestic deployment of the A350s, highlighting Air India’s commitment to improving its U.S. operations and overall service quality.

According to Campbell Wilson, Air India’s CEO & Managing Director, the introduction of the Premium Economy class marks a significant step forward for the airline’s U.S. operations. This move reflects Air India’s dedication to continuous improvement and its desire to offer a superior product on key international routes.

The A350 aircraft will also include 28 private Business class suites with full-flat beds arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, providing passengers with direct aisle access, sliding privacy doors, and personal wardrobes.

In addition to the new Premium Economy and Business class offerings, the A350 will accommodate 264 Economy seats in a 3-4-3 configuration.

All seats across the cabins will feature the Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment (IFE) system with HD screens, providing passengers access to over 2,200 hours of entertainment content from around the world. This state-of-the-art IFE system aims to enhance the overall travel experience for passengers on these long-haul flights.

The new A350 flights will also introduce updated amenities and service items, including new chinaware, tableware, glassware, and bedding. The amenity kits for Business and Premium Economy cabins are exclusively designed by Ferragamo and TUMI, respectively, adding a touch of luxury to the in-flight experience.

These enhancements are part of Air India’s efforts to provide great comfort and service, aiming to solidify its position as a leading carrier.

Wilson further emphasized that the new seats, inflight entertainment systems, and soft products will collectively offer passengers a world-class flying experience representative of the new Air India.

The airline believes that these improvements will attract travelers seeking a premium travel experience between India and the United States. Currently, Air India operates its Boeing 777-200LR aircraft on various non-stop routes between India and the U.S., with upgraded cabin interiors, except for the thrice-weekly Delhi-San Francisco service.
