Special NBC Olympics correspondent Snoop Dogg has immersed himself in the 2024 Paris Games, taking on a variety of roles and experiences. From carrying the Olympic torch to receiving a swim lesson from Michael Phelps, Snoop has been actively involved in the Games.
His involvement has also included traveling with the U.S. men’s basketball team by bus and train to Lille, where their group phase games are being held.
In a recent interview with NBC’s Mike Tirico, Snoop Dogg expressed his enthusiasm for the Games, describing the experience as a “grind” but also incredibly enjoyable. Snoop even jokingly suggested that he might be the “MVP of the Olympics,” highlighting his engaging and lively presence at the event.
While traveling with the U.S. men’s basketball team, Snoop initially played classic music from Curtis Mayfield’s “Super Fly” soundtrack, which resonated with veteran players like LeBron James. However, recognizing the need to appeal to younger players, Snoop switched to rap to get 22-year-old Anthony Edwards to join in the fun, demonstrating his ability to connect with athletes across different generations.
Despite the high stakes and competitive nature of the Olympics, Snoop noted a strong sense of camaraderie and unity among the basketball players. He observed that even though they come from rival NBA teams, there was a notable brotherhood and a collective focus on representing their country with the same spirit as the legendary “Dream Team.”
