Rapper Nelly recently found himself in a surprising situation when he was arrested at a Missouri casino after winning a $50,000 jackpot on a slot machine. Despite the arrest, Nelly was able to collect his winnings before being taken into custody. The incident occurred at the Hollywood Casino in St. Charles, Missouri, where Nelly’s victory on the slot machine led to an unexpected turn of events.
According to sources, Nelly initially believed the arrest was a prank while he was in the process of collecting his jackpot. During the payout, a background check revealed an active warrant for the rapper, which led to his arrest. Remarkably, Nelly was handcuffed to a chair but allowed to continue collecting his money before both of his hands were cuffed and he was escorted out of the casino.
Nelly’s attorney, Scott Rosenblum, stated that the arresting officer claimed a background check was necessary before releasing the jackpot winnings. Nelly, however, was surprised by this requirement, as he had previously won larger amounts at the same casino without undergoing such a check.
The background check revealed an outstanding warrant related to a prior traffic stop, which then led to a search of Nelly’s belongings, where the officer allegedly found Ecstasy.
As of now, Nelly has not been charged with drug possession, and his lawyer is calling for an investigation into the officer’s conduct, arguing that the search was conducted without probable cause. The situation has raised questions about the handling of the arrest and the legality of the search conducted by the police.
