The United States military has reported that a joint raid with Iraqi security forces in western Iraq resulted in the deaths of 15 ISIL (ISIS) fighters. The operation, which occurred on Thursday, also led to injuries for seven US soldiers. This raid underscores the ongoing collaboration between the US and Iraq in their joint security mission to combat terrorism in the region.

According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the ISIS fighters were heavily armed with various weapons, grenades, and explosive suicide belts. Fortunately, no civilian casualties were reported in this operation. The raid’s immediate aftermath revealed that five US soldiers were injured during the mission, while two others sustained injuries from falls. All injured personnel are reportedly in stable condition.

CENTCOM emphasized that ISIS continues to pose a significant threat to regional stability, allies, and the US homeland. The US has reaffirmed its commitment to aggressively pursue these terrorists in partnership with coalition forces and Iraqi counterparts. This operation highlights the ongoing threat posed by ISIL and the US’s determination to counter it.

The Iraqi military reported that the raid involved air strikes targeting ISIL hideouts, followed by an airborne operation. Key ISIL leaders were among those killed, and various resources including weapons, explosive belts, and crucial documents were seized or destroyed. This action reflects a continued effort to dismantle ISIL’s operational capabilities.

The mission of the US-led coalition against ISIL, which includes both Iraqi and Syrian operations, has had its end date recently postponed. Negotiations regarding the coalition’s future may extend beyond the upcoming US presidential elections. The ongoing conflict in Gaza has also impacted the region, with increased attacks on US bases by Iran-aligned groups, emphasizing the volatile nature of the current situation.
