Dynamos Fans React to Genesis Mangombe’s Resignation as Head Coach Amid Mixed Emotions

Dynamos fans are experiencing mixed emotions following the resignation of head coach Genesis Mangombe, which was confirmed after a crisis meeting. Mangombe, who was appointed on August 9, 2023, to replace Herbert Maruwa, decided to step down from his role.

The club’s executive chairperson, Moses Maunganidze, announced Mangombe’s resignation and expressed gratitude for his contributions, acknowledging the challenges of the transition while wishing Mangombe success in his future endeavors.

Mangombe’s performance with Dynamos was underwhelming, although he managed to secure some notable achievements, including winning the Chibuku Super Cup and guiding the team back to continental football. During his tenure, he oversaw 22 Castle Lager Premiership matches, achieving six wins, twelve draws, and four losses.

Despite these efforts, the team is currently seventh in the league standings with 30 points, trailing the leaders Simba Bhora by 13 points, and struggling with a low scoring rate of 19 goals in 22 matches.

In light of Mangombe’s resignation, the club has appointed first assistant coach Lloyd Chigowe, known as “Mablanyo,” as the interim head coach. Chigowe previously took over the head coach position in 2018 but was dismissed after three games.
