Unreleased Audio of Princess Diana Reveals Candid Thoughts on Strained Relationships in New Documentary

Princess Diana

Unreleased audio recordings of Princess Diana, Princess of Wales, speaking about her strained relationships with her husband King Charles and her stepmother Raine Spencer are set to be shared in an upcoming documentary, “Diana: The Rest Of Her Story”. The recordings were made three decades ago for her biographer Andrew Morton, who went on to publish the book “Diana: Her True Story” in 1992. The documentary is a follow-up to the 2017 film “Diana: In Her Own Words”, and provides a Look into the princess’s inner thoughts and feelings about her personal life.

In the recordings, Diana speaks candidly about her husband Charles, describing their relationship as “ridiculous” due to their vast age difference. She also reveals that Charles refused to talk to her family, citing a specific instance during her son Harry’s christening where her stepmother Raine snubbed Charles. Diana notes that this incident led to Charles shutting down emotionally whenever someone disagreed with him.

The princess also shares her intense feelings towards her stepmother Raine, who she claims ruined the family home and spent her father’s money after their marriage in 1976. Diana accuses Raine of being out of touch with the pain and suffering she had caused, comparing it to the pain she sees in her role as a princess. The princess recalls being angry enough to “go for her gullet” due to their strained relationship.

The release of these recordings comes ahead of the first anniversary of the late Queen’s death and a day after the 26th anniversary of Diana’s tragic death in Paris in 1997. The timing may be coincidental, but it allows viewers to gain a deeper understanding of the princess’s inner struggle and emotional pain, as well as the complex relationships she had with those closest to her.
