Lawyers for four British women have served Andrew Tate, a social media influencer, with civil proceedings papers at his home in Romania. The alleged victims claim Tate raped and assaulted them, and are seeking damages for the injuries they suffered as a result. The allegations date back to 2014 and 2015, when the women reportedly told UK police about the assaults. Despite a four-year investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary, the Crown Prosecution Service declined to prosecute Tate in 2019, citing insufficient evidence.

The lawyers, McCue Jury and Partners, stated that three of the women were subjected to an investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary, which was closed in 2019. The CPS also decline additional requests from the women to review the decision not to prosecute. The law firm emphasized that the civil action is separate from the criminal case against Tate in Romania, which accused him of rape, human trafficking, and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.

Tate, 37, is currently facing trial in Romania alongside his brother Tristan Tate. The men were arrested in December 2022 and will be extradited to the UK after the proceedings in Romania. Bedfordshire Police secured a European arrest warrant for the brothers, alleging further instances of rape and human trafficking that date back to 2012-2015. The Tate brothers’ representative denied all allegations, stating they are “fully committed to challenging these accusations with unwavering determination and resolve.”

This development comes as Tate’s separate human trafficking case is set to move forward in Romania. The court has ruled that the trial can proceed, and the influencer will likely face extradition to the UK once the proceedings in Romania are complete. The allegations against Tate have garnered widespread attention, with many critics expressing shock and dismay at the claims of rape and human trafficking. As the civil case moves forward, it remains to be seen what evidence will be presented and whether Tate will be held accountable for the alleged assaults.
